Buffet breakfast and welcome to the fairytale city of Alberobello, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the city of Trulli, worldwide famous for their beauty and unique characteristics, and representing one of the most extraordinary examples of Italian folk architecture. They were built in a particular historical period, when the construction of stable dwellings was highly-taxed; the inhabitants of the region thus boasted a great capacity to adapt, and an exceptional cleverness in coming up with the idea for the Trulli, temporary houses built with the local stone. Walking guided tour on your own through this area to see Casa d'Amore and Sant'Antonio Church. Lunch on your own to taste local specialities. In the afternoon excursion to Castellana’s Caves, a must-see attraction in the province of Bari. This system of caves features a series of passageways and chambers located 70 metres underground and dominated by rows of stalactites hanging like giant needles, with glittering walls of crystal, underground lakes and huge stalagmites towering up from the rock floor. After the visit back to Alberobello and free time. Exclusive dinner in an authentic Trullo with Apulian specialities. Overnight.

Buffet breakfast and excursion to the special city of Matera. Once there, accommodation at your special hotel, just inside the famous Matera’s Stones ! The city, declared European Capital of Culture of 2019, is a very special unusual, interesting and singular place. People still live inside the “Sassi” (Stones), a real UNESCO World Heritage Site. The caves of Matera had been inhabited for centuries; some humble and some smarter residences, but by the early twentieth-century the area was a by-word for poverty. Until the 1950s hundreds of families were still living crowded into cave-houses here. The squalor and malaria-ridden conditions became a national scandal and finally the cave residents were moved - by law - to modern buildings on the plateau above. Nowadays the caves of Matera are fascinating reminders of the past. Matera has become steadily more popular as an off-the-beaten-track tourist destination. More and more old cave-houses are being converted into comfortable modern dwellings, into hotels, B&Bs and restaurants. Take a walk on your own in this special town to discover it. Matera was also the one of the filming locations for Mel Gibson's film The Passion of the Christ, with shots showing the sassi and the gorge below. Lunch on your own to taste local specialities. Afternoon free for individual visits and shopping. Exclusive dinner inside Matera’s Stones with local specialities. Overnight.
